About IELTS Structure and Pattern

Listening

It consists of 40 questions which test takers have to attempt in 30 minutes. Students will listen to four recordings and answer questions based on the content.

Reading

It consists of 40 questions which test takers have to attempt in 60 minutes, There are three sections of reading material, with a mix of factual, descriptive, and discursive texts.

Writing

It consists of two tasks which the test taker is supposed to finish in 60 minutes Two tasks: Task 1 requires students to describe visual information (graphs, tables, etc.), and Task 2 is an essay on a given topic.

Speaking

It consists of three stages of interaction over 11–14 minutes The Speaking section is conducted in a face-to-face interview format with an examiner, testing your conversational English skills.

IELTS is a 2-hour and 45-minute long test. The score is valid for 2 years. The IELTS on-paper exam is available on 48 fixed dates a year, with up to four dates available per month. The IELTS computer exam may be available anytime, depending on local demand. IELTS results are on a 9-band scale. 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest.
